Central Delaware Interfaith Alliance
HeartSpirit Interfaith Spiritual Community and Rev. Ouida Joi are honored to founding member of the Central Delaware Interfaith Alliance. Rev. Ouida Joi currently serves as the Director of CDIA.
History
The Central Delaware Interfaith Alliance (CDIA) was formed in late 2019 after four churches and spiritual communities came together for an Interfaith Candle Light Prayer Vigil for Peace for Delaware Peace Week. The event was so moving, the group made a commitment to continue to meet. Out of that commitment CDIA was born.
The four groups are Camden Friends Meeting (Quakers), HeartSpirit Interfaith Spiritual Community, St. Jones River Lotus Sangha (Buddhist), and the Unitarian Universalists of Central Delaware. The Islamic Society of Central Delaware joined CDIA shortly thereafter. This Founding Committee has been meeting and visioning monthly about the vision, mission, focus, and projects for 2020.
CDIA is actively inviting other churches, temples, synagogues, and spiritual communities to join our efforts. We meet monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5pm. All are welcome.
Mission & Vision
CDIA's Mission: The CDIA builds bridges to cultivate Interfaith understanding, acceptance, compassion, and collaboration among the many diverse faith communities in Central Delaware through community action, collaborative projects, dialogue, and education.
CDIA's Vision: "That all may live in peace and harmony regardless of race, creed, religion, or lifestyle. That all may feel honored. CDIA is a center of inclusive understanding and illumination enabling different faiths to meet and work together to further peaceful relations and radiate goodwill to all. Together, we bring hope and unity to a hurting and divided world." From CDIA's Vision Session, November 12, 2019
